‘We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give’ – this worthy quote of Winston Churchill is the guiding dictum of the school’s Student Council which takes up the noble initiative of ‘Neravu – Joy of Giving’, a concept visualised and executed by them.
Members of the Council encourage the community at large to donate used items in good condition such as old clothes, books, household items and electronic goods. They then sort and display the items, invite needy beneficiaries from orphanages and schools and hand over with due dignity.
While gaining experience in organising and conducting an event, students get a glimpse into the world of the needy, as opposed to their privileged lives where every want is met. They also imbibe values such as dignity of labour, generosity and dignity of underprivileged. This is yet another example of real-life education at Kautilya Vidyalaya.
