Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru district Sri Abhiram G Sankar exhorted students to take up the cause of keeping one’s surroundings clean and green, during the launch of the unique Environmental Student Warden Programme (ESWP) initiated by Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) at Kautilya Vidyalaya on Tuesday, December 18. He formally inaugurated the initiative by unveiling the blog, ‘Parishuddha Mysuru’, created by Miss Pooja R.K. of grade X.
He lauded Founder President of MGP, Dr Bhamy V Shenoy for taking up the noble initiative and thanked Senior Principal Dr L Savitha for providing a platform to students. He also assured institutional support for any persons volunteering to participate in the programme.
In his keynote address, Dr Shenoy expounded on the objective of the programme in preserving the environment for future generations. He inspired students to champion the cause of maintaining cleanliness and encouraged them to function at the grassroots level rather than limiting activism to social media.
Miss Bhoomi Sharath and Miss Kreeya Suman of grade six, chosen as ambassadors for this programme owing to their active role in maintaining cleanliness, described their roadmap towards fulfilling the objective. Student wardens spoke about their initiatives in maintaining cleanliness and their future plans. Sri Gururaj, President, Lions Club Mysore, Smt Bhamy Shenoy and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
